“I am in command of every cent of my job,” Khun Pip Ravit Teutvongse says regularly in his show “IMPETUS,” which translates to “the momentum” in Thai. This is considered a turning point in the artist’s career. He has returned to the art world with over 50 works after a 20-year absence.
Ravit Teutvongse (nickname Pip) attended Bangkok Christian School and Thai Wichitsilp School for high school. With a passion for art, he graduated from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts (Branch of Creative Arts) with a bachelor’s degree in Fine and Applied Arts. He also studied art in New Zealand (Hawkes Bay Polytechnic, Certificate Visual Arts and Design).
Khun Pip stated that he has had an interest in painting since he was a child. However, he received more recognition as an actor than as a creative artist when he entered the acting industry, so he created art in his spare time. It has been more than two decades since his last art show, and this time he is back with a wealth of knowledge in the studio. “I am responsible for every cent of my work,” Khun Pip constantly emphasizes. If it were like cooking, I would prepare the meal to the best of my skills and ensure that it was delectable. Every square centimeter of labor is important to me, and I hope you can see that in my work.
